Most everyone knows that WordPress can be installed on any one of a number of hosting providers. And most everyone knows that you can set up a free WordPress blog at WordPress.com. But what are the crucial differences between the two, and what’s right for you? When is it time to move on from WordPress.com to a self-hosted installation? Or when is it possible that you have a self-hosted WordPress installation that could be better served as a WordPress.com blog?

We’ll talk about the basic differences between the two, such as cost, flexibility, and features—and a bit about how the two can work together to benefit you.
